Srinagar, Sep 15 (KNO): In a strange incident at a hospital in southern district of Anatnag, rats nibbled the finger of a new born baby at Maternity and Child Care Hospital Anantnag on Wednesday. As per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a video went viral on social media in which a lady alleged that the little finger of a new born baby was injured as it was gnawed by rats at MCCH Anantnag. She was asked to take her baby to GMC Anantnag so as to give him anti rabies to avoid possibility of any infection. Many other attendants present at MCCH also alleged that rats bigger than new born babies are present at the hospital due to which patients as well as attendants are suffering. They also alleged that very little attention is being directed towards the sanitation at the hospital due to which the possibility of infection contraction always remains there. A senior official posted at the hospital admitted that rodents scurry about the hospital, however, he said that he has no information about today's incident. He said that the building is very old and there is a space crunch and it is very difficult to manage things in a cramped space. He added that a private company has been hired by the authorities to make the hospital free from rodents within a period of three months for which they will get Rs1.5 lakh for the job. He said that one month has already passed and some rodents have been already killed but some rodents still exist there—(KNO)
